Staff AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop AI systems from the ground up that revolutionize core brokering workflows, encompassing intelligent submission processing that automatically extracts data from documents over 100 pages and facilitates the routing of intricate commercial policies between AI agents and expert brokers, as well as autonomous AI that empowers brokers to manage over 1000 client renewals concurrently, overseeing the entire process from prototype to production.

• Collaborate closely with brokering teams, underwriters, and operations to pinpoint automation opportunities, crafting solutions alongside the end users. In this role, you will function as an internal FDE, combining engineering and business strategy.

• Deliver production-ready AI features that yield significant results – cutting quote turnaround time by 80%, boosting broker capacity by a factor of 10, and enhancing placement success rates through intelligent market matching and risk assessment.

• Create stringent evaluation frameworks for AI within regulated insurance environments, establishing thorough testing pipelines, hallucination detection, and accuracy monitoring to ensure compliance with both regulatory standards and performance objectives.

• Propel rapid experimentation cycles utilizing contemporary AI development methodologies, transitioning from concept to deployed solutions within weeks while ensuring quality through automated testing and phased rollout strategies.

• Cultivate the next generation of AI talent by mentoring engineers on production-level AI systems, sharing insights from real-world implementations, and setting best practices for the creation of dependable AI in the financial services sector.

• Lead the forefront of employing advanced AI research to address insurance challenges, ranging from multi-agent systems for complex underwriting to sophisticated RAG architectures for managing policy knowledge.

• Manage the entire product development lifecycle for AI projects, from the initial identification of problems and technical design to creating user-friendly frontend interfaces that make AI capabilities accessible to non-technical users.

• A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is mandatory.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, machine learning, or the development of AI/ML applications is essential.

• Proficient programming skills in Python are required.

• Familiarity with modern development and deployment methodologies (e.g., containerization, CI/CD) is necessary.

• A proven history of leading AI/ML projects is critical.

• A strong enthusiasm for remaining informed about the latest developments in AI/ML and applying them to practical challenges.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a practical and efficient approach to addressing issues.

• Outstanding collaboration and communication skills, with the capability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
