This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and implement the strategic vision for AI/ML platforms that facilitate document ingestion, comprehension, and extraction across various product teams and use cases.
• Create and enforce organization-wide frameworks and standards for dataset quality, ML validation methodologies, and model verification processes that guarantee healthcare-grade safety and compliance.
• Specify the fundamental ML infrastructure for LLM operations, which includes model serving platforms, fine-tuning pipelines, and generative AI systems, enabling teams to develop reliable document understanding applications at scale.
• Oversee the technical architecture for production capabilities.
• Construct and enhance the core RAG infrastructure, vector database architecture, and LLM integration patterns that facilitate efficient retrieval and structured output generation for downstream systems.
• Propel cross-functional technical strategies by collaborating with product, clinical, and engineering leadership to synchronize multi-quarter ML roadmaps with business requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Guide junior and mid-level AI/ML engineers across distributed teams, establish model training, evaluation, and monitoring best practices, and define scalable ML engineering standards across the organization.
• Remain informed about the latest advancements in generative AI and spearhead the technical assessment and adoption of innovative techniques that deliver measurable business value.
• At least ten (10) years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a minimum of three (3) years in a technical or team leadership position.
• Prior experience in a technical leadership role within the AI/ML domain.
• Practical experience in building and deploying S/LLMs or generative AI applications (e.g., utilizing Llama, Deepseek, or similar frameworks).
• Demonstrated ability to extract structured data from unstructured document sources, including scanned forms, free-text reports, and complex layouts.
• Strong software engineering skills in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., Kubeflow, PyTorch, multi-agentic frameworks).
• Experience with OCR technologies (e.g., Tesseract, Amazon Textract), NLP techniques, and model deployment in production settings.
• In-depth understanding of NLP methods, including embeddings, transformers, named entity recognition (NER), and text classification.
• Familiarity with MLOps, version control, CI/CD processes, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
