Staff AI Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement machine learning models (including supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning) for real-world applications.

• Design experiments, establish success metrics, and conduct thorough offline and online evaluations (such as A/B tests, holdouts, and causal analyses).

• Refine, prompt-engineer, and assess large language models tailored for specific domain tasks.

• Collaborate with data engineering teams to outline the features, datasets, and pipelines essential for model training and inference.

• Work together with engineering, product, and business teams to convert ambiguous challenges into clearly defined modeling solutions.

• Create monitoring and evaluation frameworks to observe model performance, drift, and fairness over time.

• Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences using clear visualizations and comprehensive reports.

• Guide other data scientists and enhance the standards for modeling rigor within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

• Over 3 years of hands-on experience in building and deploying machine learning models in production settings.

• Strong expertise in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, and Hugging Face Transformers.

• Profound knowledge of statistical modeling, experimental design, and evaluation methodologies.

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for training, serving, and scaling machine learning models.

• Understanding of LLM fine-tuning techniques (including LoRA, RLHF, and instruction tuning) and serving infrastructure.

• Experience utilizing AI coding assistants (such as Claude Code, OpenCode, or GitHub Copilot) to enhance development workflows.
