SQL Server Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece.

• **A Glimpse of Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:**

• - **Maintain System Operations**: Oversee, maintain, and provide support for MS SQL Server environments, including configurations for high availability (e.g., Availability Groups).

• - **Address Real Challenges**: Diagnose performance and availability issues, uncover root causes, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

• - **Enhance Performance**: Conduct tuning, indexing, and automation to ensure databases remain efficient and scalable.

• - **Ensure Data Resilience**: Oversee backup and recovery procedures to secure data integrity and prepare for potential disasters.

• - **Uphold Security Standards**: Implement patches, manage updates, and uphold best practices in database security.

• - **Facilitate Operations**: Address incidents and support requests, ensuring minimal impact on business continuity.

• - **Collaborate Across Technologies**: Engage in projects involving additional database systems (e.g., MongoDB, CockroachDB).

• - **Work in Cloud Environments**: Support and optimize cloud-based database systems, primarily on Azure.

• - Practical experience managing MS SQL Server in live production settings.

• - Comprehensive understanding of fundamental SQL Server features (monitoring, jobs, backup/recovery, replication, Availability Groups / Always On).

• - Proficient in diagnosing and resolving performance and availability challenges.

• - Solid grasp of database design principles (e.g., partitioning, in-memory tables).

• - Familiarity with other database technologies (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CockroachDB).

• - Experience with cloud platforms (preferably Azure).

• - Knowledge of Git/GitLab processes.

• - Proficient in English with strong communication capabilities.

• - A proactive, solution-oriented approach with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
