Senior Database Administrator – Software

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Data Pipeline Execution (ETL): Design, oversee, and monitor effective ETL/ELT pipelines to aggregate data from various production AWS PostgreSQL instances into Snowflake for analytics and reporting.

• Advanced Query Auditing & Performance Tuning: Regularly assess SQL queries across our production environments. Identify intricate bottlenecks, rewrite inefficient queries, optimize indexes, and adjust database configurations to maintain optimal platform performance.

• Database Operations & Maintenance: Manage the daily health, backup procedures, security compliance, and scaling of our PostgreSQL (AWS RDS/Aurora) and Snowflake systems.

• Query Best Practices & Collaboration: Collaborate with Software Engineers to evaluate database schemas and queries prior to production deployment, serving as a trusted advisor on SQL best practices.

• Troubleshooting & Optimization: Act as the senior escalation point for database performance challenges, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum availability for our core SMS services.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or a data engineering role with a strong database focus.

• PostgreSQL Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience in managing and tuning PostgreSQL databases, particularly within the AWS ecosystem (RDS or Aurora).

• Snowflake Proficiency: Significant experience with Snowflake, encompassing data loading, performance tuning, and managing warehouse costs.

• Advanced SQL Profiling: Outstanding abilities in query profiling, execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN), partition strategies, and index optimization.

• Hands-on ETL/ELT: Proven track record of building and maintaining data pipelines utilizing tools such as dbt, Airflow, AWS Glue, or custom Python scripting.

• Data Migration & Synchronization: Essential experience utilizing AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) to transfer and continuously synchronize data between relational databases and data warehouses.

• Version Control: Complete proficiency with Git.
