Speech Language Pathology Assistant – Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Provide support to students facing communication challenges that impact their classroom engagement, social interactions, literacy, and overall learning.

• Operate under the guidance of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

• Address the specific needs of each student as outlined in their Individualized Education Program (IEP).

• Obtain licenses in various states to assist students in multiple educational institutions.

• Ensure that all speech and language services are delivered as specified by the IEP team.

• Collaborate with parents and educators to create a schedule that promotes regular attendance and active participation from students.

• Generate progress reports and other required special education documentation specific to state regulations.

• Utilize available resources to guarantee that accommodations and modifications for students with disabilities are provided.

• Adhere to state, school, and company policies and regulations.

• Educate students, families, and teachers on effective communication strategies and technologies.

• Keep accurate files and/or records using designated systems, such as progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and other relevant documents.

• Gather data and work samples to assess student progress toward their IEP goals and objectives.

• Record all communications with parents and interventions conducted with students.


⛳️ Requirements

• Valid speech-language pathology assistant license granted by the state department of education and/or state board.

• Associate's Degree in Speech Communication or a related field, coupled with two (2) years of experience in speech/language roles within a public school environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Capacity to work independently, with a commitment to being available for at least 20 hours each week during standard school hours.

• Ability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during working hours, typically from 9 AM to 5 PM as per school and time zone requirements.

• Familiarity with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and its due process regulations.

• Proficiency in conducting and interpreting comprehensive speech-language evaluations.

• Capability to deliver speech-language therapy services effectively.

• Ability to collaborate with colleagues to plan and provide speech-language services for children.

• Openness to receiving regular coaching and feedback from administrators.

• Adaptability and willingness to embrace change to achieve excellent student outcomes.

• Competence in designing and facilitating staff development sessions.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and educational platforms.

• Proficient in MS365.

• Must pass a required background check.
