This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Accurately code claims directly from medical records and operative reports in accordance with coding standards.
• Ensure timely and precise completion of assigned work queues.
• Monitor and analyze trends within charge review and follow-up work queues, aiding leadership in addressing these trends and educational requirements.
• Support research efforts regarding denied claims.
• Adhere to established corporate and departmental policies, quality improvement programs, customer service standards, and productivity expectations.
• Meet individual quality and productivity performance metrics in daily tasks as established by coding leadership.
• Provide and assist in provider education and the creation of educational materials.
• Maintain professional communication with physicians, management, and colleagues.
• Engage in all educational activities, including coding meetings and calls, to stay informed about coding and compliance.
• Stay updated on changes to current payer guidelines, Correct Coding Initiative edits, and Local/National Coverage Determinations to ensure coding accuracy and mentor team members on these guidelines.
• Aid in the training of other coders.
• Proactively seek new skills and demonstrate a willingness to contribute expertise to projects, committees, and other relevant activities.
• Exhibit personal accountability for job performance.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in physician coding, particularly in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, or Vascular Surgery coding specialties.
• Proficient understanding of Medical Terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
• Familiarity with PC and computer applications.
• Basic navigational skills and functional expertise in Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational, communication, time management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet both short- and long-term deadlines.
• Experience with EPIC and prior usage of coding software tools.
• Candidate must possess and maintain at least one of the following professional certifications (CPC preferred, along with CCVTC and/or CIRCC): CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).
