This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Act as the leading technical expert in the Special Projects division.
• Operate autonomously in high-voltage settings without direct oversight.
• Manage intricate inspections, specialized engineering project implementations, advanced troubleshooting, and critical system diagnostics.
• Take ownership of project sites, supervise subcontracted labor, and provide mentorship and training to junior technicians.
• Adhere to a clear Field Tech Development Pathway to Technician Level 4.
• Foster and promote a culture of safety in all dimensions of special project work.
• Aid in the planning and execution of special projects, ensuring compliance with project procedures and timelines.
• Execute advanced preventative maintenance on commercial, industrial, and utility-scale PV and energy storage systems.
• Independently identify and troubleshoot complex system challenges.
• Assist with project tracking and communicate on scheduling, budgeting, and project risks.
• Willingness to travel 75% of the time on short notice, including flexibility to work outside regular business hours.
• 2–4 years of proven experience with electrical systems, specifically in solar O&M, installation, or commissioning.
• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory; an Associate's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline is highly preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour certification is required.
• NFPA 70e certification is mandatory (familiarity with NFPA 70b is advantageous).
• FAA Part 107 Certification required, along with proficiency in operating drones for aerial thermographic applications.
• NABCEP certification (PV Installer, PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist, or O&M Specialist) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, solar energy concepts, grid-tied systems, power generation, and solar technologies.
• Proficient in the use of specialized electrical and PV-specific diagnostic instruments (e.g., I/V Curve Tracers, Meggers, and Isolation testers).
• Capability to read, interpret, and work from intricate electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and PV system as-builts.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
• Up to an 8% performance bonus awarded annually.
