Special Education Middle School Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Missouri.

📋 Description

• Deliver specialized education course content in a virtual setting

• Provide instruction, support, and guidance while overseeing the educational process

• Address the individual needs of students as specified in each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)

• Build relationships and communicate effectively with students, parents, families, learning coaches, and related service staff

• Ensure the delivery of special education and related services in accordance with IEP requirements

• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and necessary state special education documentation

• Facilitate and lead collaborative meetings related to special education, including annual IEP meetings

• Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplementary curriculum, and accessible texts

• Adjust Stride K12 lessons and assessments based on IEPs

• Promote student inclusion and success in the general education environment

• Collect data and work samples to assess progress towards IEP goals

• Document parent interactions and student interventions

• Analyze student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences

• Maintain the grade book and make decisions regarding student placement and promotion

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments

• Communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting

• Collaborate with teachers to interpret student data and inform instructional strategies

• Travel up to 20% for professional development, student assessments, and school-related obligations

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree

• Active state teaching license

• Missouri Special Education Teaching Certification

• Ability to pass required background checks

• 0–1 year of relevant professional experience

• Must be a resident of Missouri

• Ability to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Capability to maintain a professional home office environment free from distractions during the workday

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time

• Ability to collaborate with teachers to analyze and produce numerical, tabular, and graphical representations of student data

• Proficient in using student data to inform instructional decisions

• Open to regular coaching from administrators

• Ability to adapt and embrace changes to enhance student outcomes

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint

• Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities

• Experience with the target age group, online or traditional teaching, technology support, and online learning platforms is preferred
