This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Accountable for ensuring the reliability and high availability of Tenable cloud products' code and functionality in cloud environments.
• Tasked with addressing support escalations that involve troubleshooting intricate technical issues and resolving data/configuration challenges within established service level objectives.
• Responsible for developing software, tools, and scripts to automate the deployment, management, and monitoring of production systems across all environments.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues on complex projects.
• Partner with cloud engineers to understand emerging cloud technologies, evaluate their impact on security services operations, and propose solutions to existing business challenges.
• Engage in the software development lifecycle to create detailed enhancement/bug definitions, draft functional requirements, translate these requirements into solution designs, and guide the functional requirements through to production deployments.
• Actively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiency concerning the tools and technology utilized by Tenable to support its customer base.
• Manage, participate in, or directly contribute to various additional projects, assignments, or initiatives as directed by management.
• Develop and maintain documentation for operational procedures.
• Contribute to standardization initiatives across disciplines and services alongside embedded SREs throughout the organization.
• Document and execute system upgrades, application updates, and establish monitoring requirements based on customer or organizational needs.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support 24x7 availability of production application systems.
• Address infrastructure and/or container security vulnerabilities.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant SRE experience.
• Utilize core software engineering principles (such as data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design) to tackle complex reliability and scalability issues at a distributed level.
• To qualify for this role, you must meet one of the following criteria: be remote (currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA) and possess experience with Terraform or comparable IaC technologies.
• Preferably have 2+ years of experience deploying public cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), including administering managed AWS services (EKS, OpenSearch, MSK, Batch, etc.).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Experience with Docker or similar container solutions.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience with the Agile software development methodology and collaboration with internal teams to deliver software and configuration artifacts.
• Proficient in bash scripting as well as higher-level scripting languages such as Python or Node.js.
• Proven experience contributing to projects from inception to completion as part of a team.
• Familiarity with deploying and managing distributed, microservices-oriented applications at scale.
