Software Engineering Specialist, Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Spearhead technical projects aimed at modernizing the Payments Proxy platform.

• Engage in the development of Java/Spring Boot applications within mission-critical, high-transaction-volume settings.

• Strategize and implement the migration of applications from virtual machines to Kubernetes environments (AKS).

• Establish and execute containerization approaches utilizing Docker.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines through GitHub Actions and best practices in DevOps.

• Aid in the architectural transition from monolithic systems to more scalable and resilient designs.

• Ensure adherence to best practices regarding observability, performance, security, and high availability.

• Collaborate with teams focused on infrastructure, architecture, and cloud platforms.

• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues.

• Take part in defining technical standards, development best practices, and engineering governance.

• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the technology stack while minimizing technical debt.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in backend development with Java and Spring Boot.

• Practical experience in modernizing legacy applications and monolithic systems.

• Demonstrated ability to migrate applications from VM-based environments to Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in containerization utilizing Docker.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes, preferably AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service).

• Understanding of cloud computing, particularly Microsoft Azure.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.

• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.

• Experience with observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting in distributed applications.

• Proven ability to operate in high-availability, high-volume critical environments.

• Capacity to work autonomously with a comprehensive perspective and a strong sense of ownership.

• Nice-to-have: experience in payments, acquiring, anti-fraud, or transactional systems.

• Understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging systems.

• Experience with strategies for breaking down monolithic applications.

• Familiarity with SRE practices and reliability engineering.

• Knowledge of Terraform or infrastructure as code practices.

• Experience with deployment strategies such as blue/green or canary deployments.
