Software Engineer, Web Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Maintain and enhance the Unity Web runtime by contributing features and addressing fixes throughout the platform.

• Collaborate to optimize the download size, loading time, and startup performance of Web builds.

• Develop, profile, debug, and optimize across C++, C#, and JavaScript.

• Collaborate with the manager and team members to define project scope, building on established patterns within the codebase.

• Investigate and resolve issues identified by internal teams and developers utilizing the Web platform.

• Stay updated with evolving browser capabilities and share insights with the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Practical development experience with C++.

• Familiarity with C# and/or JavaScript.

• A keen interest in understanding how browsers function at a fundamental level, beyond just website development.

• Proficiency in profiling, debugging, and optimizing native code.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills within a distributed, multi-functional team.

• A proactive thinker who persists in solving intricate low-level issues.

• Experience with WebAssembly, Emscripten, LLVM, or WebGL.

• Background in real-time 3D or game engines.

• Knowledge of code size optimization or compression techniques.

• Adequate proficiency in English for professional verbal and written communication.
