Software Engineer, Web Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute across various areas of the team to actively influence our core metrics, including developer experience, developer velocity, debuggability, performance, and reliability, while also minimizing costs and introducing new functionality to realize our team’s vision and that of the broader organization. Upcoming initiatives involve modularizing our client observability libraries, enhancing the developer experience for code editors and Claude skills, improving bundler capabilities, and boosting CI debuggability.

• Collaborate with product teams at Airbnb to identify their challenges, test proposed solutions, and promote the adoption of tools and frameworks.

• Work alongside a diverse range of infrastructure teams and assist product foundation teams as they develop additional capabilities based on the team’s offerings.

• Engage in all stages of software development, from architecture and design to implementation, testing, and on-call responsibilities.

• Assist team members in fostering code quality, operational excellence, and collective learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–4+ years of experience in a hands-on software engineering position, particularly in frontend web development.

• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript.

• A keen interest in utilizing AI tools (such as Claude Code and Codex) to enhance and accelerate development methodologies.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with other engineering teams across complex interfaces.

• A passion for collaboration through code reviews and architectural discussions.

• An interest in working with IDE infrastructure, such as VS Code plugins, language servers, or Claude Code skills and MCP servers.

• [Bonus] Experience (beyond configuration) with bundlers, testing frameworks, editor integrations, frontend build/CI systems, observability tools, or developer environments.
