Software Engineer – PlanetScale Postgres

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• You will create and develop the control plane responsible for provisioning, scaling, and healing Postgres clusters while ensuring minimal downtime visible to customers.

• You will establish and uphold high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection measures to safeguard customer databases against infrastructure failures.

• You will optimize Postgres to function efficiently at scale, handling some of the world's largest and most demanding workloads.

• You will develop tools and automation for database operations, including backup, restore, and migration workflows, and participate in an on-call rotation.

• You will collaborate directly with customers to comprehend their workloads and translate their real-world requirements into platform enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience in designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems in a production environment.

• Strong expertise in Go, along with familiarity in other programming languages such as Ruby, Python, Zig, or Rust.

• Proven experience in developing and maintaining distributed, fault-tolerant services.

• Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications.

• Experience in building and managing distributed systems at scale.
