Software Engineer, Network Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of Render's essential network infrastructure across various data centers and cloud providers, influencing the evolution of networking as Render expands rapidly.

• Develop and implement customer-facing networking features that enhance user flexibility regarding service connectivity, communication, and traffic management.

• Analyze intricate networking issues throughout the stack, from the kernel and data plane to distributed systems and edge networking.

• Foster performance and reliability enhancements through methodical profiling and optimization.

• Collaborate with engineers throughout the organization to construct a platform that is stable, predictable, and secure.

• Engage in our on-call rotation, contributing to ongoing improvements in incident detection, response, and learning.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 6 years of experience in building and managing large-scale networking or infrastructure systems.

• Proficiency with Kubernetes networking internals (e.g., kube-proxy, CNI plugins, service routing) or comparable container networking technologies.

• Solid understanding of Linux networking internals (e.g., routing, netfilter/iptables/nftables, conntrack) in live production settings.

• Experience in developing and managing traffic routing systems (e.g., load balancers, ingress, proxies) at scale.

• Extensive experience in designing, debugging, and operating distributed systems.

• Proven ability to plan and implement high-risk changes with minimal downtime.
