This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Lead and cultivate a distributed team of over 8 engineers specializing in Identity Management, Payments & Billing, and Internal Admin Platforms, encompassing both junior and senior talent.
β’ Drive engineering execution by overseeing sprint planning, setting technical priorities, and managing delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams.
β’ Engage extensively with the PHP monolith, including code reviews, making architectural decisions, and steering incremental modernization efforts without disrupting production systems.
β’ Foster and sustain a high-performance team culture through regular 1:1 meetings, career development initiatives, and structured feedback mechanisms.
β’ Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to ensure alignment on roadmap priorities and technical strategies.
β’ Create team processes that effectively balance velocity, quality, and operational stability at scale.
β’ Take ownership of hiring and headcount planning for your teams, which includes defining roles and assessing candidates.
β’ Conduct technical risk assessments and guide teams through intricate system changes, including IAM/SCIM integrations, billing infrastructure, and account lifecycle management.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of hands-on PHP development experience, with proficiency in large-scale monolithic applications.
β’ At least 3 years of engineering management experience, demonstrating a history of developing engineers and successfully delivering complex projects.
β’ Strong knowledge of MySQL, including query optimization and data modeling at scale.
β’ Experience with identity, authentication, or billing systems such as IAM, OAuth, SSO, or subscription/payment platforms is highly advantageous.
β’ Proven ability to lead technical teams through architectural evolution while maintaining reliability.
β’ Comfortable working in a high-ownership, low-process engineering culture where context is prioritized over ceremony.
β’ Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating technical complexities to stakeholders and conveying business priorities to engineers.
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
