Software Engineer, L2

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +5 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and develop robust, scalable backend systems and APIs within Segment’s data platform.

• Collaborate across various teams including design, product, and engineering to establish solutions that balance usability, performance, and architectural longevity.

• Clearly communicate technical decisions, outlining trade-offs, customer impact, and team alignment.

• Diagnose and enhance system reliability by troubleshooting issues and refining operational tools and processes.

• Participate in an on-call rotation for our managed services.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in programming with one or more of the following languages: Go, Java, Python, or similar.

• Experience in managing large-scale, distributed systems on cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS).

• Hands-on experience with container orchestration frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes, EKS, ECS).

• Familiarity with large-scale asynchronous processing systems.

• Experience in deploying services (products) using the CI/CD development methodology.

• Solid understanding of software engineering principles and how to design systems that are scalable and extensive.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex technical ideas.

• Comfortable with asking questions and taking initiative to resolve issues.
