This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Act as the technical leader for platform-level systems, taking ownership of architecture, data flows, and technical standards across various products.
• Create, develop, and sustain effective technical processes that encompass multiple technologies, programming languages, and database architectures.
• Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects to ensure coherence between architectural standards, technical solutions, and business results.
• Conduct technical design reviews and make informed trade-off decisions that balance speed, performance, reliability, data integrity, and maintainability.
• Maintain technical oversight for a suite of products and services, assisting in prioritizing tasks amid competing demands such as delivery commitments, production support, technical debt, and platform modernization.
• Take responsibility for production readiness, system reliability, and incident prevention across the systems in the portfolio.
• Set and uphold standards for monitoring, alerting, resiliency patterns, runbooks, and post-incident evaluations.
• Propel continuous improvement in platform stability, observability, and operational maturity.
• Plan, architect, and lead significant technical initiatives, upgrades, and implementations.
• Work alongside business leaders, product teams, and engineering managers to align technical execution with business objectives.
• Serve as a technical lead and mentor to Software Engineers I–III by providing coaching, design guidance, code reviews, and pair programming.
• Foster team development by advocating best practices throughout the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, systems development, and extensive technical design.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and supporting enterprise-scale data platforms in both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Profound expertise in SQL Server/database engineering, including performance optimization, reliability, and troubleshooting of long-running or blocking workloads.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data ingestion patterns utilizing SQL, APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS), with an understanding of downstream analytics and warehouse implications.
• Experience with contemporary data ingestion and transformation tools (e.g., CData, dbt, or similar), emphasizing production ownership and maintainability.
• Familiarity with SQL Server replication technologies, including Microsoft Replication and Change Data Capture (CDC).
• Strong capabilities in process modeling, data modeling, database design, and the creation of technical specifications.
• Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills; capable of managing multiple priorities with minimal oversight.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Practical experience with containerization in support of data engineering or AI/ML workloads.
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures that support scalable, reliable data pipelines.
• Experience in project planning, technical road-mapping, and deployment strategies.
