
Software Engineer – Integrations Team

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Develop and sustain integrations with Epic, Cerner, and other leading EHR systems utilizing FHIR, HL7, and vendor-specific APIs.
• Take ownership of the integration process from start to finish: scoping, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve integration challenges within production clinical settings where reliability is crucial.
• Collaborate with hospital IT departments and EHR vendors to facilitate new integration implementations and navigate certification protocols.
• Contribute to product enhancements across Avo's wider platform, including clinical AI tools, decision support systems, and EHR-integrated workflows.
• Work alongside product, design, and clinical teams to convert healthcare workflow needs into clean, dependable code.
• Engage in code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback.
• Create unit and integration tests emphasizing reliability in high-stakes clinical scenarios.
• Proactively identify and rectify bugs, performance concerns, and edge cases within integration data flows.
• Adhere to our security and compliance policies — including HIPAA, SOC2, and EHR vendor certification standards.
• Participate in technical discussions, RFC processes, and sprint planning sessions.
• Clearly communicate asynchronously with teammates, implementation partners, and EHR vendor representatives across various time zones.
• Assist in documenting integration patterns and onboarding new engineers to EHR tools as the team expands.
• 3+ years of experience in professional software development.
• Expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript (React) or Python (Django).
• Strong grasp of REST APIs, data modeling, and systems managing sensitive, high-reliability data.
• Excellent written communication abilities — our culture prioritizes written communication.
