This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

• Develop and implement security measures for PlanetScale's cloud-native database platform.

• Collaborate with engineering teams to perform security assessments, threat modeling, and offer guidance on secure coding practices.

• Emphasize proactive red teaming and testing to uncover vulnerabilities.

• Assess, acquire, and deploy proactive security tools.

• Partner with the compliance team to ensure compliance with security frameworks (SOC 2, PCI DSS).

• Create security automation and tools to enhance security practices at scale.

• Address security incidents and carry out post-incident evaluations.

• Over 5 years of experience in software engineering with a concentration on security engineering or application security.

• High proficiency in Go, along with familiarity in other programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++.

• Experience in securing cloud-native applications and infrastructure across platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.

• Knowledge of database security, encryption methods, and access management.

• Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC 2, PCI DSS).

• Understanding of threat modeling, security architecture, and secure coding methodologies.

• Experience with database internals, distributed systems security, or infrastructure security.

• Background in evaluating, implementing, and automating security tools.

• Experience with Kubernetes security, container security, and cloud security posture management.

• Knowledge of security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.

• Prior experience in a high-growth technology company or within a security engineering capacity.

• Relevant security certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, etc.).
