Software Engineer – Indexer Focus

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage the components of the Indexer using Rust — including the chain indexer, wallet indexer, SPO indexer (Cardano partner-chain data), and the GraphQL API — while ensuring the architecture remains modular and maintainable.

• Construct and oversee the data pipeline that retrieves blocks and transactions from the Midnight node via subxt, addressing finalized-block tracking, gap backfilling, and ongoing real-time indexing.

• Create efficient schemas and queries for PostgreSQL (cloud) and SQLite (standalone), maintaining optimal latency and throughput as the chain expands.

• Enhance the GraphQL API — including queries, mutations, and real-time subscriptions over WebSockets — with particular attention to the wallet model: ensuring secure sessions and accurate handling of shielded data.

• Develop and uphold unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; prioritize reliability and correctness as essential aspects.

• Take responsibility for the operational quality of the service: including observability, containerized deployment (Docker), and incident response.

• Engage in code reviews and technical design discussions, collaborating closely with the node, ledger, wallet, and security teams — contributing to those components as you become more familiar.

• Stay updated with advancements in Rust and blockchain technology, and implement them to enhance the platform.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years focused on the Rust programming language.

• Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals, encompassing algorithms and data structures.

• Proven experience in developing and supporting high-performance systems in Rust.

• Familiarity with blockchain technology is advantageous.

• Experience in remote work and collaboration across various time zones.
