This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Enhancing the Wikipedia product experience by resolving bugs and introducing new features.

• Collaborating with fellow engineers, product managers, designers, other teams, and community members to iterate on new functionalities.

• Crafting multilingual, accessible, and high-performance code with JavaScript and PHP.

• Expanding upon the MediaWiki API ecosystem.

• Implementing components to monitor feature performance and quality metrics.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2–5 years of relevant professional or open-source software engineering experience.

• Proficiency in object-oriented development using scripting languages (such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, or Ruby).

• Excellent written communication skills, as collaboration primarily occurs online via chats, wikis, documents, and tickets.

• Focused software engineering: experience in writing unit tests and organizing work with version control.

• A passion for contributing to knowledge equity, free culture, and open access.

• A strong emphasis on clear communication in both synchronous and asynchronous formats.

• A solid understanding of algorithms and data structures is crucial!
