This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Poland.
β’ Take complete ownership of backend features from initial scoping to production, ensuring the team is kept updated on progress, risks, and obstacles without needing reminders.
β’ Design and implement backend services that manage significant payment volumes, emphasizing reliability, performance, and correctness at scale.
β’ Participate in architectural discussions, present proposals to the engineering council, and advocate for clear service contracts along with straightforward, maintainable system designs.
β’ Monitor the production impact of your work, proactively identify issues, and drive incidents to resolution as they occur.
β’ Write code that is regarded by your peers as high quality: production-ready, thoughtfully designed with error paths in mind, and created with consideration for future engineers.
β’ Actively engage in maintaining Primer's engineering standards, voice concerns when gaps are identified, and assist the team in upholding a consistent quality standard.
β’ Collaborate with engineers from the Orchestration team during scoping sessions, code reviews, and technical decisions that influence the system's evolution.
β’ Strong backend engineering experience, capable of transforming ambiguous requirements into functional, production-ready software with minimal supervision.
β’ Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: you know the reasons behind production failures and design accordingly.
β’ Proficient in working with REST APIs and familiar with the patterns that ensure services are reliable, observable, and easy to understand.
β’ Experience managing projects from start to finish β not only coding but also considering monitoring, rollout, and post-deployment scenarios.
β’ The confidence to engage in architectural discussions, ask pertinent questions, and challenge design decisions that seem illogical.
β’ Background in payments, fintech, or infrastructure contexts is advantageous, although the depth of engineering expertise is more critical than the specific sector.
