Software Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Design and implement complex, scalable solutions that facilitate near real-time decision-making systems.

• Architect and advance distributed systems, which include: Microservices and RESTful APIs, event-driven and streaming architectures, as well as hybrid data storage strategies (both relational and NoSQL).

• Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams to shape and refine system architecture.

• Independently guide system design choices, ensuring a balance between scalability, reliability, performance, and cost.

• Develop and maintain applications utilizing Python (for backend services and data pipelines) and React (for frontend user interfaces).

• Create and manage cloud-native solutions in Azure using Kubernetes.

• Design and execute data workflows using Airflow or other DAG-based orchestration frameworks.

• Work with modern data ecosystems, including MongoDB or comparable NoSQL systems, and Snowflake or similar analytical data platforms.

• Take ownership of services and repositories from start to finish, ensuring reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

• Decompose complex initiatives, guide estimation and delivery timelines, and proactively manage execution risks.

• Implement robust testing strategies (unit, integration, and end-to-end) while maintaining high standards for code quality.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to enhance engineering workflows and elevate code quality.

• Contribute to intelligent automation solutions that facilitate adaptive and decision-driven workflows.

• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to productionize models and support experimentation frameworks.

• Apply statistical reasoning or data science concepts to enhance system effectiveness when applicable.

• Foster strong, collaborative relationships across engineering, product, data, and architecture teams.

• Actively participate in and lead design discussions and code reviews.

• Mentor and assist fellow engineers, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

• Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and technical decisions.

• Engage in planning, prioritization, and delivery execution within the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and delivering production-grade software.

• At least 5 years of experience with Python and backend service development.

• Over 5 years of experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks.

• Experience in building cloud-native applications (preferably on Azure) using Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with modern data technologies, including MongoDB (or similar) and Snowflake (or equivalent).

• Proficiency in data pipelines and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow).

• Experience in designing and consuming APIs and distributed systems.

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and contemporary DevOps practices.

• Ability to independently manage and deliver complex features or services.

• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and creating intelligent workflows (e.g., Copilot).

• Familiarity with agentic or LLM-based frameworks (such as LangChain/LangSmith or similar agent frameworks) and orchestration tools.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
