• Design and enhance the core framework of our platform to accommodate hundreds of thousands of merchants globally.
• Collaborate and align the scope of work with various teams to successfully execute cross-team initiatives.
• Work alongside the Engineering Manager and Team Lead to realize the long-term vision of the team.
• Implement a technical strategy for broad or intricate requirements, employing insightful and forward-thinking methods that address larger open-ended challenges beyond the immediate team.
• Leverage agentic development tools like Claude Code to automate segments of the development workflow.
• Elevate engineering standards, tooling, and processes across the organization.
• Over 3 years of experience as a backend software engineer.
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, distributed systems, and the impact of architectural choices on performance and maintainability.
• Proficiency in concepts such as data models, API design (http and RPC), state machines, event-driven architecture, and database design.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on asynchronous communication, including written technical specifications, ADRs, project plans, etc.
• Experience in designing, developing, and deploying backend systems (our technology stack includes AWS, gRPC, Snowflake, Kotlin, Python, MySQL, Kubernetes). Experience with Java and Kotlin is particularly beneficial.
• Previous exposure to monitoring and alerting systems (sentry.io, rollbar, chronosphere, kibana).
• This role requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
