Software Engineer I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Analyze and address fundamental production challenges in accordance with departmental protocols and troubleshooting methods.

• Deliver Level I development and application assistance.

• Create individual modules or components within a broader system architecture.

• Adjust and/or improve existing components on a small scale under the supervision of a senior engineer or supervisor.

• Conduct planning and execution of unit tests for your own code.

• Carry out integration testing within the project parameters.

• Design individual modules or components with a limited scope in larger system frameworks.

• Collaborate on AI-assisted software development activities, utilizing Generative AI tools to enhance coding efficiency, generate test cases, or help with documentation.

• Assist in small-scale proof-of-concept projects that involve GenAI APIs, prompt engineering, or AI-driven automation within the software stack.

• Engage in ongoing learning opportunities related to AI technologies, including model APIs, embeddings, and responsible AI utilization.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, or 2+ years of equivalent experience in a relevant area within a medium-to-large IT organization.

• Certifications: Microsoft Tech, PeopleSoft Tech, Java Tech, OpenSource Tech.

• No prior professional experience is required.

• At least 1 year of experience with a programming or scripting language (C#, Java, JavaScript, SQL).

• Minimum 1 year of experience writing or modifying programs for small to mid-sized applications.

• At least 1 year of experience administering and/or configuring an application.

• Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Fundamental knowledge of n-tiered architecture.

• Basic comprehension of database concepts.

• Exposure to Microsoft container, Open Source container, and Java platforms.

• Familiarity with cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI) and RESTful API integration with LLMs is preferred.

• Foundational knowledge of Generative AI and awareness of ethical AI practices.

• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers of varying expertise levels.

• Capacity to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

• Capability to communicate business processes to technical teams.

• Ability to create simple process flow diagrams or flowcharts that illustrate business or system process flows.

• Competence in gathering requirements and developing test plans.
