This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of performance optimization on the StarRocks serving layer by utilizing AI-driven query profiling to detect and resolve slow query patterns.
• Develop and strengthen data pipelines that support government cloud investigations.
• Become the second engineer capable of independently managing and troubleshooting the serving layer, thereby minimizing single points of failure.
• Employ AI-driven debugging and log analysis to address production issues and implement root-cause solutions.
• Review incidents, infrastructure tasks, and compliance milestones during weekly team meetings.
• Provide asynchronous daily updates regarding pipeline health, ticket statuses, and any obstacles.
• Engage in sprint-based planning and take ownership of assigned workstreams.
• Conduct post-incident reviews and update runbooks accordingly.
• Collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering and Product teams to ensure consistency between government cloud and commercial platforms.
• U.S. citizenship is necessary due to access requirements for government cloud data.
• Practical experience with distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems like StarRocks, Trino, ClickHouse, or similar technologies.
• Proven track record in query tuning and performance optimization at scale.
• Experience in managing data pipeline reliability and incident response effectively.
• Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar for debugging, code reviews, and documentation purposes.
• Capability to independently take ownership of unfamiliar production infrastructure.
• Ability to utilize AI-assisted research and code exploration for rapid learning.
• Willingness to accept on-call responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• AI fluency is a fundamental expectation and will be assessed during the interview process.
