This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +32 more states.
β’ Develop and sustain services that communicate with server BMCs via IPMI and Redfish across a diverse hardware ecosystem (Dell, Supermicro, HPE, AMD, NVIDIA platforms)
β’ Create tooling for control-plane DPU provisioning and lifecycle management (NVIDIA BlueField, AMD Pensando)
β’ Implement and enhance workflows for serial-over-LAN, virtual media, and remote console
β’ Write services in Rust (and utilize Go/PHP where suitable) that are observable, thoroughly tested, and safe for unattended operation at fleet scale
β’ Contribute to internal SDKs and shared libraries utilized by other infrastructure teams
β’ Collaborate with datacenter operations and hardware vendors to troubleshoot firmware, BMC, and DPU performance in a production environment
β’ Engage in design reviews, code reviews, and take part in on-call rotations for the OOB control plane
β’ Enhance test coverage, CI/CD pipelines, and tools that allow for safe deployment of hardware automation
β’ Document interfaces, runbooks, and failure scenarios to ensure the system remains operational as it evolves
β’ Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, focusing on backend services or systems software
β’ Experience in production with at least one of Rust, Go, or C/C++ -- and a willingness to learn Rust as the primary programming language
β’ Strong understanding of Linux -- including processes, networking, systemd, and basic kernel concepts
β’ Proficient with HTTP APIs, JSON, gRPC, and familiarity with at least one common RPC/IPC pattern
β’ Knowledge of at least one of IPMI, Redfish, BMC tooling, PXE/iPXE, or bare metal provisioning -- or a strong foundation in systems and a keen interest in learning
β’ Ability to read vendor documentation, RFCs, and packet captures to understand system operations
β’ Excellent written communication skills -- capable of creating clear design documents, PR descriptions, or incident postmortems
β’ Bonus: familiarity with DPUs, SmartNICs, SR-IOV, IOMMU, or virtualization stacks (KVM/QEMU/libvirt)
β’ Bonus: experience with BGP, VXLAN, or datacenter networking
