Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, ideally in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience

• At least 2.5 years of experience in designing and developing successful customer-facing web applications

• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably a statically typed language such as Java, C++, or Golang

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript along with at least one front-end framework such as React, Vue, or AngularJS

• Experience in building JavaScript-based web applications using HTML5, CSS, and Node.js

• Proven experience in contributing to and integrating with REST APIs

• Practical experience in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries in at least one common database platform, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with executing shell commands, e.g., OS X or Linux terminal

• Experience in writing unit and integration tests

• Good architectural understanding, with the ability to see the overall picture and evaluate various approaches and tools to make timely judgments

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

• Experience with Git and GitHub, including familiarity with GitHub Pull Request workflows

• Bonus experience: Familiarity with GraphQL for querying APIs and serving relevant data

• Global UI state management using Apollo and React Apollo

• Knowledge of NPM and JavaScript build tools like Babel, Webpack, or Browserify

• Experience with Python and TypeScript

• Familiarity with the MVVM framework Vue.js

• Experience with Amazon Web Services

• Understanding of microservice architecture design principles

• Experience with graph databases, such as Neo4j

• Knowledge of columnar data stores like Amazon Redshift or BigQuery

• Familiarity with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins

• Experience with Atlassian software development and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)

• Knowledge of agile methodologies

• Familiarity with social network APIs, such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn

• Experience with data pipeline and streaming technologies like Hive, Spark, Kafka, or Kafka Streams
