Software Development Engineer – Test

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Unified Automation: Create and sustain automated testing frameworks that cater to both Web (React/Vue/Angular) and Mobile (Android) platforms utilizing cutting-edge tools such as Playwright or Cypress.

• Test Strategy: Collaborate with Front End and Android engineers to establish the "Definition of Done," ensuring that testability is integrated into each feature from the design phase.

• API & Integration: Design automated tests for RESTful APIs to guarantee seamless support for both web and mobile front ends, including performance and load simulation testing.

• CI/CD & Infrastructure: Integrate automated test suites (smoke, functional, and regression) into the deployment pipeline (GitHub Actions/Jenkins) to facilitate quick and reliable releases while managing test infrastructure.

• Bug Lifecycle: Detect, document, and resolve complex issues that span both mobile and web environments, delivering thorough technical analysis.

• Performance & UX: Continuously monitor and assess application performance and responsiveness using logging tools, establishing and reporting against measurable performance benchmarks (e.g., load times, resource utilization) to ensure the Android and Web apps meet high user experience standards.

• Quality Advocacy: Serve as a quality champion, mentoring developers in writing effective unit tests and fostering a "quality-first" mindset throughout the engineering department.

• Technical Mentorship: Promote the adoption of best practices and lead the technical development of the QA team by offering hands-on mentorship, conducting code reviews, and setting engineering standards to enhance scripting capabilities and automation skills.

• AI-Augmented Quality Gates: Lead the strategy and implementation of Generative AI for test automation, including establishing tools (e.g., Atlassian Rovo Dev or similar) to automatically generate E2E and regression test cases directly from Jira User Stories.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a dedicated SDET or QA Automation position.

• Proven Mobile Experience: Specific expertise in testing native Android applications (familiarity with ADB, emulators, and mobile-specific edge cases).

• Web Expertise: In-depth understanding of the DOM, CSS selectors, and browser-based debugging.

• Cloud & Infrastructure: Practical knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization technologies for troubleshooting or optimizing CI/CD test environments.

• Agile Proficiency: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment alongside specialized platform engineers.

• Analytical Mindset: Capability to trace a bug from a UI issue down to a specific API response or code logic error, with a strong enthusiasm for identifying and documenting 'edge cases' that others might overlook.
