Software Development Engineer – Platform Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Implement and enhance data access methodologies for effective interaction with large-scale datasets utilizing ElasticSearch, Google Firestore, MongoDB Atlas, ClickHouse, and Redis.

• Oversee, diagnose, and optimize current database instances (SQL, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, ClickHouse) to guarantee sub-second response times and operational reliability.

• Play a key role in the design and execution of high-performance components capable of handling terabytes of information.

• Concentrate on instrumentation, benchmarking, and refining query performance, indexing, memory/CPU utilization, and storage configurations.

• Create and sustain reusable frameworks, SDKs, and platform services in various programming languages, primarily focusing on Node.js and GoLang.

• Actively engage in design evaluations and follow engineering best practices to uphold high technical standards.

• Collaborate with product and platform teams to adopt best-practice data access patterns and maintain SLAs.

• Work alongside multiple teams to provide reliable, secure, and maintainable data platform capabilities.

• Contribute to the operational health of database environments, including processes related to backup/restore, disaster recovery, security, and compliance across AWS, GCP, and Azure platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 4 years of software engineering experience, demonstrating success in backend services and data-intensive systems.

• Essential proficiency in Node.js or GoLang for scripting and debugging within our codebase environment.

• Practical experience in optimizing and scaling systems utilizing cloud-managed databases (e.g., MongoDB Atlas) such as ElasticSearch, Firestore, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Redis.

• SDE 2: Proven expertise with at least one large-scale database technology.

• SDE 3: Proficient across various database technologies (e.g., MongoDB, ClickHouse, ElasticSearch).

• Demonstrated mastery of a programming language, producing clean and testable code.

• Strong understanding of SQL fundamentals; previous experience with relational databases is advantageous.

• Knowledge of distributed systems principles (CAP, consistency, consensus) and best practices in observability.

• Familiarity with CI/CD, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) for automating database processes.
