Software Development Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• You will lead a high-performing, healthy, and impact-driven product engineering organization.

• You will support several Engineering Managers who report to you and oversee a multi-team software development organization.

• You will report directly to the CPTO and assist in defining the engineering strategy for the entire company.

• You will develop talent in the area by strengthening leadership capabilities, professional growth, succession planning, and a feedback culture.

• You will technically and strategically lead the development teams, ensuring quality, performance, and scalability.

• You will define the engineering strategies, priorities, capacity, and operating model of the area to ensure predictable, efficient, and quality delivery.

• You will ensure the technological evolution of the stack, the sustainability of the software, and the scalability of the platforms in the medium and long term.

• You will evaluate and define the architecture of applications developed in Java and Javascript in an AWS environment and work with the technical team on recommendations for improvements.

• You will promote best practices in development, testing, observability, documentation, automation, and production deployment.

• You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to define priorities, assess technical viability, and ensure value delivery.

• You will manage dependencies, risks, and cross-functional blockers, facilitating alignment and focus among teams and areas.

• You will create context, clarity, and alignment within the organization, ensuring that teams understand the company’s overall strategy and the engineering and product strategy.

• You will foster an engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, technical excellence, and product vision.

• You will lead the establishment of AI capabilities as the core of the engineering practice to enhance productivity, software quality, automation, technical decision-making, and innovation within the area.


⛳️ Requirements

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fields.

• 10+ years of experience in software development, ideally in product environments, SaaS, edtech, or internationally scalable digital products.

• 5+ years of experience leading development teams, preferably with experience managing multiple teams or leading through managers.

• Experience defining engineering strategy, scaling teams, and improving delivery models in technology organizations.

• Solid knowledge of web architectures and development, ideally with technologies such as Java, Angular, and cloud platforms like AWS.

• Experience with CI/CD practices and tools, observability, software quality, and production operations.

• Strong leadership ability and the capacity to develop managers, technical leaders, and high-performing teams.

• Strategic vision for business, product, and engineering, with the ability to translate it into realistic and sustainable execution plans.

• Ability to create alignment, manage complex priorities, and facilitate decisions in ambiguous environments.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, both with technical and non-technical profiles.

• Continuous improvement mindset, technical judgment, and the ability to drive cultural and organizational change.

• Solid experience or interest in the application of AI in software engineering, with the ability to identify useful use cases and promote their responsible adoption.

• Proficient in English (C1).
