This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, implement, and sustain high-quality software solutions across Tempo’s cloud-native applications. Focus on performance, security, and usability during development to ensure that features enhance user experience while maintaining scalability and reliability.

• Actively identify and resolve complex technical challenges, promoting innovation and creative solutions that improve both the product and development processes. Engage in code reviews, offering constructive feedback to peers to uphold high standards of code quality. Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions to enhance system reliability. Develop and sustain comprehensive automated test suites, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, to guarantee high-quality releases.

• Assume direct, proactive ownership throughout the entire development lifecycle. Identify and mitigate performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and security vulnerabilities, integrating best practices from design to deployment.

• Utilize AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools in your daily workflow to expedite delivery, enhance code quality, and boost productivity. Employ sound engineering judgment when incorporating AI-generated code and contribute to the evolution of team practices regarding AI tools.

• Collaborate with the team to investigate emerging technologies, proposing new strategies and enhancements that can optimize performance and user experience. Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineering leaders to align technical solutions with product strategy and customer needs. Engage with technical stakeholders to decompose complex tasks, estimate effort, and refine feature requirements. Partner with SREs to optimize deployments, enhance monitoring, and improve system observability.

• Stay current with industry trends and advocate for best practices in software development, clean code principles, and emerging technologies. Contribute to the improvement of team workflows, developer tooling, and software reliability. Promote best coding practices, security measures, and efficient system design.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in full-stack software development utilizing AWS cloud-native technologies and a solid understanding of modern frontend architecture and performance, including state management.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript / Node, React, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.

• Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS services (EKS, ECR, SSM, S3).

• Practical experience using AI coding agents and AI-assisted development tools (such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in daily development workflows.

• Proven experience in building and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance applications.

• Ability to produce well-structured, testable, and maintainable code that complies with software development best practices.

• Expertise in writing automated tests, debugging production issues, and ensuring system reliability.

• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, database and query optimization, and distributed system design ensuring efficient, reliable, and scalable data operations.

• Proven ability to take direct ownership of quality, performance, reliability, and security outcomes.

• Capacity to thrive in an agile development environment, iterating on software based on feedback and business requirements.

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a knack for working effectively in cross-functional teams.
