Software Architect, R&D

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Develop and refine the architectural vision for innovative products, platforms, and technological initiatives.

• Investigate emerging technologies, perform technical assessments, and spearhead Proof of Concept projects.

• Create scalable architectures that are cloud-native, distributed, and hybrid.

• Set architectural standards, best practices, and engineering guidelines.

• Direct the technical design of intricate enterprise systems and those with high load requirements.

• Specify technology stacks and architectural principles for new solutions.

• Contribute to solutions that utilize AI/ML, Generative AI, LLM, and intelligent automation.

• Recognize technical risks and establish mitigation strategies.

• Assist engineering teams with complex technical challenges and architectural decisions.

• Carry out architecture reviews and assessments of technical solutions.

• Participate in the formulation of technical strategies, product roadmaps, and long-term product development.

• Aid in technology transformation and product modernization efforts.

• Work collaboratively with customers and internal stakeholders on architectural and technology strategies.

• Coach technical leads and senior engineers.

• Help cultivate engineering culture, development processes, and DevOps practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in software development, architecture, and the evolution of products, platforms, and enterprise solutions.

• Over 4 years in roles such as Software Architect, Enterprise Architect, Engineering Director, or a similar architectural position.

• Strong grasp of contemporary architectural patterns, software design principles, and distributed systems.

• Proven experience in defining architectural vision and guiding strategic technology choices.

• Background in evaluating technologies and architectural methods based on business objectives, scalability, total cost of ownership, and long-term viability.

• Experience in leading distributed engineering teams and technical projects.

• Proven track record in driving architectural initiatives across various products, platforms, or teams.

• Experience working collaboratively with engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

• Proficiency in defining architectural standards and engineering best practices.

• Experience in designing cloud-native, distributed, and scalable systems.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.

• Knowledge of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and API-first design.

• Strong practical background in software development.

• Experience with CI/CD, automation, and DevOps practices.

• Familiarity with modern programming languages, cloud technologies, and enterprise platforms.

• Proven experience in end-to-end product and platform delivery.

• Practical knowledge across relevant technology domains, including cloud platforms, containers, programming languages, frontend, data and messaging, DevOps, and observability.

• Nice to have: hands-on experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, LLM, RAG, or intelligent automation.

• Nice to have: professional certifications in architecture, cloud platforms, or software engineering.
