Software Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Lead and guide the engineering team towards success.

• Conduct code reviews that emphasize acceptance criteria, robustness, style, and maintainability.

• Steer the technical direction during the shift from desktop and mobile applications to a cloud-based SaaS model.

• Engage with the entire system, covering feature development, infrastructure, production reliability, and monitoring.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project delivery while meeting business and customer expectations.

• Ensure the scalability and performance of the system.

• Partner with the product team to design and architect features that improve writer productivity and address customer pain points.

• Plan for infrastructure and toolset enhancements while tackling technical debt.

• Uphold best practices for platform uptime, stability, and responsiveness, and implement new policies as necessary.

• Drive velocity and explore methods to enhance it.

• Contribute high-quality code to product development and issue resolution.

• Report directly to the Vice President of Engineering at Final Draft.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software development.

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related fields is preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; AWS is highly preferred.

• Recent experience in cloud-based NoSQL databases is required; MongoDB is preferred.

• Strong skills in TypeScript or JavaScript for backend development.

• Proficient in React, React Native, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.

• Familiarity with system design principles and patterns, including OOP and functional programming.

• Knowledge of data modeling, REST APIs, and API gateway patterns is essential.

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, and serverless architecture.

• Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools and practices.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.

• Knowledge of cloud cost management and optimization strategies.

• Software development experience within the US-based Media and Entertainment industry is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Responsible GenAI, LLM, and RAG implementation is considered valuable.
