Soccer Data Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Conceptualize, create, and enhance machine learning and statistical models that power Swish’s core algorithms for delivering cutting-edge sports betting products.

• Develop tailored feature sets utilizing domain expertise specific to sports.

• Participate in all phases of model development, from crafting proof-of-concepts and conducting beta testing to collaborating with data engineering and product teams for model deployment.

• Continuously seek to enhance model performance by leveraging insights gained from thorough offline and online experimentation.

• Evaluate results and outputs to measure model efficacy and pinpoint weaknesses that guide development focus.

• Follow software engineering best practices and contribute to collaborative code repositories.

• Document modeling activities and present findings to stakeholders as well as both technical and non-technical partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• Proven experience in developing production-scale models for Soccer or sports betting for over 2 years.

• Proficiency in Probability Theory, Machine Learning, Inferential Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods.

• Over 5 years of demonstrated experience in creating and delivering effective machine learning and/or statistical models to meet business needs in the sports or sports betting sector.

• Familiarity with relational SQL and Python.

• Experience utilizing source control tools like GitHub and related CI/CD processes.

• Background in working within AWS environments, among others.

• Established track record of strong leadership abilities.

• Proven capability to collaborate with teams in addressing complex challenges by adopting a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

• Excellent communication skills suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
