This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Oversee and manage Incident Response investigations for Protera Technologies and its clients.
• Conduct thorough analysis of logs and alerts to distinguish genuine security incidents from non-threatening events.
• Identify and link relationships between apparently unrelated data to recognize potential threats.
• Perform packet analysis on network traffic to gather supporting evidence for investigations.
• Lead incident response discussions with internal teams and clients, ensuring transparent communication, updates, and coordinated remediation steps.
• Offer guidance and mentorship to junior analysts regarding best practices, investigations, and tool utilization.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure effective incident management, containment, and remediation assistance.
• Strive for continuous enhancement of incident response and security operations protocols.
• Manage escalated security incidents using tools such as SIEM, EDR, ITSM, either via email, phone, or in-person interactions.
• Oversee security incidents until resolution, escalating or consulting with leadership when necessary.
• Adjust, troubleshoot, and optimize SIEM, EDR, NDR, and other security monitoring systems.
• Engage in proactive threat hunting and vulnerability assessments to identify emerging risks.
• Act as the primary liaison for clients during significant security incidents, providing status updates, guidance, and recommendations.
• Record all incident response actions and client interactions to ensure preparedness for audits and post-incident reporting.
• Extensive experience in reviewing and analyzing log data from various network and security devices.
• Proficient in widely-used information security tools for packet capture, network/OS fingerprinting, and communications analysis.
• Strong familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line usage.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, with in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and other essential protocols.
• Knowledgeable about common network services and client/server applications.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven capability to engage with clients professionally during high-pressure scenarios.
• Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting technical issues and managing incidents.
• Ability to handle customer interactions professionally to ensure high levels of satisfaction.
• Quick learner of new technologies and concepts.
• Willingness to participate in shift rotations or on-call schedules as necessary.
• Experience in mission-critical SOC or operations teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of exploits, vulnerabilities, network intrusions, adversary tactics, and data exfiltration methods.
• Practical experience in Malware Analysis, Phishing Email Analysis, Log Analysis, and Digital Forensics.
• Familiarity with FTK, Redline, EDR tools, and enterprise SIEM platforms.
• Knowledge of ITSM, IT GRC, and Cyber Case Management tools.
• Scripting skills (Python, Perl, Bash, PowerShell) for automating tasks and enhancing SOC capabilities.
• Previous experience mentoring junior analysts or leading SOC initiatives.
• Strong client-facing abilities and capacity to lead incident calls with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
