This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Coordinate and assist with the daily operations of the SRE team, collaborating with their managers to establish strategies for managing everyday tasks.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance based on defined goals and objectives.
• Address issues of limited scope while demonstrating the ability to identify and implement solutions to routine challenges.
• Integrate into an Engineering team, guiding them towards production excellence and advocating for best practices.
• Mentor team members and spearhead initiatives.
• Lead the design process for features while considering system-wide and architectural implications.
• Comprehend the fundamental day-to-day responsibilities within a production environment and partake in on-call support.
• Collaborate and engage with various disciplines throughout the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of services.
• Troubleshoot production issues across services and different layers of the stack, along with practicing incident response and conducting blameless postmortems.
• Identify opportunities within processes and tools to enhance the team's overall productivity.
• Recognize exceptional talent and inspire them to join our team.
• Provide estimates, monitor progress, manage risks, and oversee team members' time effectively.
• Participate in on-call shifts alongside other disciplines to respond to incidents.
• Engage with tech communities and contribute to their enhancement.
• Align with our business domain and needs, as well as our company vision, mission, and strategy, to achieve our short and long-term objectives.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the SRE domain.
• Between 2 to 5 years of experience in leading, managing, and developing SRE teams.
• Comfortable with the prospect of becoming a generalizing specialist, as we aim to create a multidisciplinary and balanced team of "t-shaped" individuals.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language is necessary, as software engineering is a vital aspect of our work, and we actively utilize and support various platforms and languages.
• Competence in testing methodologies such as TDD or BDD will be highly regarded.
• Knowledge of the container ecosystem, cloud infrastructure, build systems, and CI/CD tools is essential for success in this role.
• Ability to take ownership of complex systems challenges and help identify opportunities for improvement.
