This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• This role is not your standard "keeping the lights on" SRE position. It focuses on transforming a rapidly growing, stateful system into a reliable, well-automated platform (provisioning, scaling, rebalancing, recovery). The goal is to alleviate operational stress, create safe automation for high-traffic workloads, and develop the tools and patterns that allow the system to scale without increasing human effort.
• You will tackle challenges that arise only at large scale (petabytes of data, thousands of cores, constant ingestion) within a multi-region, multi-account AWS ecosystem running various services on Kubernetes.
• You will operate EKS clusters across multiple environments utilizing Karpenter for autoscaling, Cilium for networking, and ArgoCD for GitOps deployments.
• Your responsibilities will include managing and evolving a multi-AWS account organization, which encompasses provisioning, networking, access control, and cross-account connectivity.
• You will maintain the Terraform/Terragrunt Infrastructure as Code (IaC) platform, which includes modules, automated plan-on-PR / apply-on-merge pipelines, and safe patterns for shared infrastructure.
• You will enhance operational tooling related to deployments, schema changes, backups, restores, and incident response.
• You will work on reducing operational load by identifying recurring pain points and eliminating them through code and self-healing automation.
• Optimizing cloud expenditures will also be part of your role.
• You will participate in on-call and incident response activities, with a strong emphasis on making incidents less frequent over time.
• This position allows you to design and automate rather than merely respond to alerts. If you enjoy taking deep ownership of production systems and building the foundational platform for everything else, this team is for you.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments (EKS preferred). You should have experience debugging issues related to node pressure, networking, and deployment failures at scale (thousands of nodes).
• Strong expertise in managing production infrastructure on AWS, not limited to a single account, but with an understanding of organizational boundaries, IAM, and networking across multiple accounts.
• Proven experience in automating infrastructure using Terraform or Terragrunt at scale, including module design and state management.
• A solid understanding of Linux systems, including disk, memory, networking, and failure modes.
• Experience in supporting stateful systems such as databases, queues, and storage systems.
• Ability to diagnose and analyze performance and reliability issues in a production environment.
• Comfort in owning systems end-to-end, including on-call duties.
• Nice to have: Experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Experience in developing AI agent-enabled foundational infrastructure services for fast-moving teams.
• Familiarity with multi-region infrastructure and the associated consistency/availability trade-offs.
• Transparency: Our roadmap, compensation details, and operational strategies are accessible in our public company handbook. Internally, we share revenue information, notes from board meetings, and fundraising plans to ensure everyone has the context necessary for informed decision-making.
• Autonomy: We empower everyone to choose their tasks based on the potential impact on customers and personal interests. Engineers lead product teams and make product decisions, with flexibility in team structures as needed.
• Shipping fast: We prioritize rapid product development and operate with small, autonomous, and highly efficient teams that can deliver results more quickly than larger companies.
• Time for building: We emphasize productivity over meetings. As a fully remote company, we embrace asynchronous communication, with designated meeting-free days to focus on building rather than coordination.
• Ambition: We aim to tackle significant challenges, believing that striving for the best possible outcome—even if we fall short—is preferable to inaction. We are optimistic about our potential and our ability to achieve it.
• Being weird: We celebrate creativity, whether it's redesigning a world-class website multiple times, launching every product related to customer data, or creating unconventional developer tools. Embracing uniqueness serves as a competitive advantage and adds an element of fun to our work.
