Site Reliability Engineer – Network Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Establish and manage reliability objectives for network services and critical pathways (SLIs/SLOs, availability benchmarks, error budgets where applicable)

• Propel reliability enhancements throughout the entire network: addressing not only services but also site preparedness, inter-site connectivity (DCI), and operational standards

• Take charge of incident response in your designated areas, spearhead investigations/postmortems, and transform failures into sustainable solutions (avoiding repetitive firefighting)

• Develop and refine observability: implementing actionable metrics/logs/traces, alerting systems, and expedited debugging processes during and after incidents

• Create safer change management workflows: incorporating automation, CI/CD, testing/staging environments, canary deployments, rollbacks, and auditability for network modifications

• Collaborate closely with network engineers and platform teams to integrate operability into designs and ensure operations remain efficient and swift

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong foundational knowledge of production Linux and a systematic approach to troubleshooting complex systems

• Comprehensive understanding of networking fundamentals and the common failure points in real networks (control plane vs data plane, latency/loss, failure domains, etc.)

• Practical experience in managing high-availability systems and enhancing them over time (beyond merely “keeping the lights on”)

• Proficiency in writing and maintaining software/automation (Go is commonly used; Python is also appreciated)

• Familiarity with contemporary infrastructure tools (e.g., IaC, CI/CD, container platforms) and a readiness to automate operational processes
