This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Designing and architecting essential L1/L2 signal processing components for link-level and system-level simulators, as well as Virtualised Distributed Unit (vDU) L1/L2 software and Radio Unit (RU) L1 hardware IP.
• Collaborating with software and hardware development teams to provide technical support and guidance as necessary.
• Conducting system specification, high-level design, detailed design, implementation, and testing of new features in the simulator.
• Ensuring the accuracy of implementation through calibration against available published results.
• Monitoring the progress of the 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 specifications related to the 5G NR/6G implementation in the simulators and associated products.
• Identifying new or missing 3GPP features (or modifications to existing features) that require implementation in the simulator to maintain its currency.
• Communicating pertinent updates to specifications to the broader team.
• Developing and deploying agentic AI tools and workflows to enhance and expedite software development.
• Gaining an understanding of the simulator kernel to expand platform functionality.
• Cooperating with other NEC teams globally who utilize the simulator and providing informal technical support as needed.
• Creating and maintaining all essential documentation for assigned projects.
• Adhering to the company's life cycle and quality assurance procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in digital signal processing.
• Knowledge of linear algebra, probability theory, and statistics.
• Experience in algorithm development, including synchronization and tracking, channel estimation, equalization and MIMO detection, de-mapping, and decoding.
• Strong skills in Object-Oriented programming and C++.
• Experience with link and/or system-level simulation.
• Understanding of 5G NR, 5G Advanced, and 6G technologies.
• Familiarity with the 3GPP standards process.
• Solid comprehension of the 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 technical specifications.
• Knowledge of AI/ML, especially in agentic AI development to facilitate software development automation and acceleration.
• Experience in data analysis using MATLAB.
• Familiarity with the software development life cycle.
• Methodical and meticulous programming approach, with the ability to conform to Quality Assurance practices.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Possibility of remote work.
