Senior/Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture and design of essential Conductor services, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, and perform efficiently at a massive scale.

• Address the most challenging distributed systems issues, impacting both immediate deliverables and future technical strategies.

• Work in conjunction with product, design, and cross-functional engineering teams to implement high-impact, business-critical features.

• Act as a force multiplier—mentoring engineers at various levels, enhancing team practices, and cultivating a culture of technical excellence.

• Advocate for open-source contributions to Conductor, steering community involvement and adoption.

• Assess and integrate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools to keep Orkes at the cutting edge of distributed computing innovation.

• Set and uphold best practices in coding standards, testing, observability, and operational readiness.

• Collaborate closely with leadership to ensure engineering initiatives align with business strategies and customer demands.

• Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in building backend systems, with a strong focus on Java and Spring Boot.

• Proven history of architecting large-scale, distributed systems and event-driven applications.

• Proficiency in REST, gRPC, asynchronous messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-native architectures.

• Demonstrated capability to lead significant, cross-team technical projects from inception through to delivery.

• Strong technical mentorship and leadership abilities, capable of inspiring and guiding other senior engineers.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the capacity to influence technical direction across various teams and stakeholders.

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
