This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Oversee the design of upstream processes, which includes PFDs, P&IDs, balances, and equipment specifications.
• Create scalable solutions for media preparation and bioreactor-based manufacturing utilizing automation.
• Ensure adherence to cGMP and global regulatory requirements.
• Direct FEL/FEED initiatives, converting customer requirements into well-defined scopes.
• Prepare costed proposals outlining scope, assumptions, risks, and exclusions.
• Assist in CAPEX estimations that align with commercial objectives and margin targets.
• Act as the main technical liaison for customers and project teams.
• Facilitate design reviews, technical discussions, and presentations for executives.
• Work collaboratively across sales, engineering, and international teams.
• Contribute to technical marketing efforts through white papers, webinars, and presentations.
• Represent Thermo Fisher at industry conferences to advocate for bioproduction solutions.
• Ensure a seamless transition to execution teams with a well-defined scope and continuity.
• A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required; a Master's or PhD is preferred.
• Over 8 years of experience in process engineering or bioprocess system design in the biopharma or life sciences sector.
• In-depth knowledge of upstream bioprocessing, including cell culture, media preparation, and single-use technologies.
• Experience with capital equipment projects and the development of intricate engineering proposals.
• Proven capability to lead front-end engineering, scope definition, and the development of technical solutions.
• Familiarity with automation platforms (e.g., DeltaV, PLC/SCADA systems) and their integration within bioprocess facilities is preferred.
• Strong grasp of cGMP and global regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, ICH).
• Established ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional and global teams.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging stakeholders and executive audiences.
