Senior Transformer Substation Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Capability to execute all facets of substation services (repair, processing & testing) while exhibiting an exceptional comprehension of transformers, construction operations, and the related controls.

• Proficient in conducting both shop and field transformer testing for Power Factor, Excitation, and resistance readings in accordance with NETA/ANSI Standards, as well as maintaining operational mechanical systems including pump and valve operations and oil processing units.

• Diagnose and test transformers utilizing various testing methods and equipment, including the partial installation of transformer components.

• Perform acceptance testing and preventative maintenance according to established testing procedures.

• Utilize specialized test equipment such as Power Factor Tester (DOBLE), Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm-millimeters, and various hand-held power and non-power tools.

• Must be open and capable of traveling for overnight, multi-day, out-of-town assignments and willing to work regular overtime, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must successfully pass a pre-employment DOT drug screening and physical examination.

• Completion of a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check is required.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is necessary.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs., climb ladders, and stand for prolonged periods is essential.

• Availability to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays with minimal prior notice.

• A High School Diploma or GED is MANDATORY.

• An Associate's degree in industrial maintenance or Electrical/Electronic Technology is preferred.

• Over 10 years of relevant Substation work experience is preferred.

• Education in electrical theory and/or related experience is required.

• Military experience is considered an asset.

• NETA certification is an advantage.

• A CDL Class A license is required.
