Senior Test Automation Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Facilitate collaboration with developers and functional analysts to develop test plans and test scripts (both Manual and Automated) in line with VA required testing documentation standards and templates.

• Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams.

• Guarantee the high quality and reliability of software.

• Oversee continuous integration and manage performance testing events.

• Organize and monitor all testing artifacts in GitHub, Jira, and related repositories.

• Direct and perform testing in accordance with Master Test Plan specifications, ensuring effective tracking, monitoring, and reporting of outcomes.

• Support and manage staff test events with suitable resources.

• Recognize and document defects.

• Track and update defect and bug reports using the Application Life Cycle Management (ALM) tool, Jira.

• Conduct code reviews of scripts.

• Carry out manual and automated test script executions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in collaborating with developers, end-users, and organizations to formulate test plans and test scripts.

• In-depth technical knowledge of IT products, operating systems, software, hardware, systems, networks, and specialized environments.

• Experience in drafting or aiding in the creation of test plans and procedures.

• Responsible for managing the defect database under the supervision of the QA Manager.

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or a closely related technical field.

• A minimum of 10 years of applicable experience in manual and automation testing.

• An additional 8 years of relevant experience may replace the educational requirement.

• Eligibility is restricted to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents (green card holders).

• Must be capable of obtaining a Security Clearance / Public Trust.

• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.

• Experience in coordinating and managing test events in alignment with approved test plans, procedures, and scripts.

• Knowledgeable in ensuring proper setup of test environments.

• Skilled in developing test automation scripts using a scripting language (Python, JavaScript).

• Practical experience with QA automation tools (e.g., Selenium, JMeter, TestNG, Cypress, Playwright).

• Capable of generating test reports.

• Familiarity with working in a SAFe / Agile environment.

• Preferred experience with Application Life Cycle (ALM) tools (Jira, etc.).

• Proficient in defect tracking and test management systems (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Bugzilla, HP ALM).

• Solid understanding of SDLC, Agile, Scrum, and DevOps methodologies.

• Strong background in CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment methods.

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

• Comprehensive knowledge of cloud-based testing solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

• Highly skilled in scripting languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, C++, Go, TypeScript, PHP).

• Experienced in backend testing.

• Capable of performing manual testing.

• Proficient in SQL.

• Experience using API testing tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI).

• Familiarity with GitHub and repositories.

• Must have experience configuring necessary hardware and operating environments to complete designated testing.

• Responsible for tracking issues and reporting identified errors.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to excellent customer service.

• Highly motivated and analytical with proven problem-solving skills.

• Ability to take initiative.

• Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills, adapt to new client environments, and enhance domain knowledge.

• Stay informed about emerging QA tools, trends, and methodologies, recommending new technologies and best practices.

• Preferred experience working with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

• Knowledge of Medical claims X.12 Transactions (837, 835, 277, etc.) is preferred.

• Familiarity with medical claims processing applications is preferred.

• Experience with accessibility testing tools is advantageous.

• ISTQB certification is preferred.
