This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.
• Design, develop, and maintain tools and systems for procedural content generation within Unreal Engine to facilitate scalable and dynamic game environments.
• Collaborate with art and design teams to integrate PCG workflows that support rapid content iteration and optimization.
• Create and optimize shaders, materials, and procedural assets, ensuring adherence to high performance and quality standards.
• Analyze engine performance related to procedural content and implement enhancements.
• Prototype innovative procedural techniques and workflows to advance the capabilities of game art technology.
• Offer technical guidance and documentation on PCG pipelines for the development team.
• Uphold and enforce technical standards and guidelines for procedural content creation.
• Evaluate and optimize existing art pipelines to effectively incorporate procedural generation techniques.
• At least 5 years of experience in game development or a related CG industry.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
• Strong proficiency with Unreal Engine, particularly in Procedural Content Generation (PCG) tools and pipelines.
• Expertise in shader development and material creation within Unreal Engine.
• Experience with Houdini, especially its integration with Unreal Engine for creating procedural assets.
• Comprehensive understanding of procedural systems, scripting, and automation in game development.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and capacity to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
• Extensive experience utilizing Unreal Engine Blueprints for procedural content pipelines.
• Proficient in Python scripting and its application in procedural asset workflows.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine's PCG framework and procedural mesh generation.
• Experience in engine profiling, memory management, and performance optimization related to procedural content.
• Capability to create clean, maintainable, and user-friendly automation tools.
• Experience with version control systems.
• Knowledge of Substance Designer/Painter and texture generation/compression techniques (nice to have).
• Experience working with DCC tools such as Blender, Maya, or 3DS Max (nice to have).
• Background in developing reusable procedural assets and systems for large-scale game production (nice to have).
• Solid understanding of art fundamentals and asset creation pipelines (nice to have).
• Ability to read and comprehend C++ code (nice to have).
