Senior System Safety Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Execute essential safety lifecycle activities across AeroVect’s software and hardware platforms.

• Conduct System Safety Analyses that include hazard identification and risk evaluations.

• Develop and trace both functional and technical safety requirements for supervised and unsupervised autonomy.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration, testing, and validation of safety requirements.

• Aid in the creation of safety case artifacts and verification evidence necessary for airport implementation.

• Carry out Quantitative Hardware Safety Analyses and compute failure rates employing standard methodologies.

• Assess hardware components and architectures for potential faults and establish Hardware Safety Requirements.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of practical safety engineering experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive (ISO 26262), aerospace (DO-178C/DO-254), or industrial safety (IEC 61508).

• More than 5 years in hardware safety engineering, electrical engineering reliability, or failure rate modeling for automotive, aerospace, or industrial robotics.

• Previous experience with autonomous driving systems or mobile robotics.

• Demonstrated ability to operate under the technical guidance of a Principal Safety Engineer within a fast-paced agile engineering team.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

• Proven expertise in FIT rate modeling, component failure rate calculation methods (SN 29500, IEC 61709, MIL-HDBK-217), and FMEDA processes.

• Mastery of ISO 26262-5: In-depth knowledge of hardware architectural metrics (SPFM, LFM) and hardware diagnostic strategies.
