This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.
• Act as the technical authority for substation construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and reliability.
• Provide technical supervision for various energized substations that support mission-critical loads.
• Review and assist in substation design, protection schemes, relay configurations, commissioning plans, and operational protocols.
• Offer expertise in protective relays, protection and control systems, SCADA systems, communications, and substation automation.
• Assist in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, outage planning, switching operations, and reliability enhancement initiatives.
• Oversee substation construction activities and serve as the technical representative for the owner during project execution.
• Collaborate with engineering firms, EPC contractors, utility companies, commissioning agents, construction managers, and facility operations teams.
• Review construction deliverables, testing documentation, timelines, and quality assurance processes.
• Engage in FAT, SAT, commissioning, energization, and project handover tasks.
• Assess the condition and performance of substation equipment, including transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, grounding systems, battery systems, protection panels, and related apparatus.
• Create technical reports, recommendations, and professional communications tailored for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide support for emergency response and operational troubleshooting as needed.
• At least 5 years of practical experience with high-voltage substations, covering construction, commissioning, operations, and maintenance.
• Proven expertise in protective relays.
• Proven expertise in protection and control systems.
• Proven expertise in SCADA and substation communications.
• Proven expertise in high-voltage substation equipment.
• Proven expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems.
• Competence in reading and interpreting one-line diagrams, relay schematics, protection drawings, and construction documentation.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to engage effectively with field personnel, contractors, engineers, project managers, and executive leadership.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and technical leadership skills.
