Senior Staff Software Engineer, Client Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement a comprehensive client architecture strategy across the organization to facilitate smooth video creation, editing, and uploading within our shared composers. Set the standards for future format integrations into the client layer.

• Create and expand new contribution formats directly within the shared post and comment functionalities. Remove obstacles for high-potential strategic initiatives aimed at diminishing identity-risk barriers for sensitive content and transforming viral, low-effort creation formats that engage passive consumers into active contributors.

• Act as the technical cornerstone for the Contribution engineering team and impact the broader Content Ecosystem organization. Convert intricate product requirements into implementable technical roadmaps and ensure alignment across Web, iOS, and Android platforms.

• Skillfully leverage AI-assisted development tools to expedite prototyping, system design, and coding, while applying thorough judgment to verify and take ownership of the final results. Advocate for AI as a valuable resource.

• Oversee the engineering of high-performance client infrastructure. Address challenges such as zero-latency rich-text rendering, resilient edge-optimized media upload pipelines, and intricate state synchronization for both offline and online editing to enhance global contribution success rates.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience with a solid background as a Senior Staff Engineer or Principal Engineer on consumer-oriented mobile or web client applications.

• Client Architecture Expertise: In-depth knowledge of contemporary web architecture (e.g., React, TypeScript, advanced state management) combined with strong architectural understanding of native mobile frameworks (iOS/Swift, Android/Kotlin) to establish unified client APIs and guide cross-platform engineering standards.

• Domain Expertise: Proven history of addressing challenging client-side performance and rendering issues at scale, developing highly interactive features such as zero-latency rich-text editors, asynchronous media processing pipelines, or real-time state synchronization systems.

• Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. Capacity to influence VP-level technical strategies and navigate critical trade-offs between performance, reliability, and business impact without directly overseeing the engineers involved.

• Proven capability to lead extensive, cross-functional engineering projects that align technical excellence with ambitious growth objectives.
