This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of OpenLoop's AI governance program from start to finish, including use-case intake, risk assessment and scoring, the AI Use Case Register, issue tracking, and overseeing the AI Governance Council review process.
• Develop and refine OpenLoop's AI governance standards, including the scoring rubric, risk taxonomy, and review framework, ensuring alignment with evolving AI risk frameworks and U.S. regulatory developments, such as new federal executive orders and emerging state AI laws.
• Manage the intake and review process in accordance with service-level agreements: evaluate new AI use cases, document risk and regulatory exposure, establish approval conditions, and ensure findings are resolved.
• Organize and facilitate AI Governance Council meetings, including setting the agenda, preparing materials, and providing recommendations, to ensure timely decisions are made, documented, and acted upon without the need for escalation.
• Assist in establishing and subsequently running OpenLoop's data governance program, mirroring the same model — including the Data Governance Council, the data governance standard, the enterprise data classification scheme, and the data ownership and stewardship model.
• Evaluate adherence to the data governance standard across operational teams, providing clear reports on areas of compliance and non-compliance.
• Collaborate with teams that manage data on a daily basis — including Privacy, Data Security, Data Protection (DLP), Data Platform, and Data Engineering & Analytics — to define standards and assess compliance levels.
• Prioritize the governance of data that supports AI systems, focusing on aspects such as provenance, lineage, classification, and the quality of training and inference data to ensure models are constructed on reliable and properly managed data.
• Evaluate AI vendor and model risks in collaboration with Third-Party Risk, Security, and Legal teams, encompassing standalone AI tools and AI features integrated within existing vendor solutions.
• Maintain metrics, dashboards, and reports related to AI and data governance, translating AI and data risk profiles into actionable insights for the leadership team and board.
• Assist with SOC 2, HITRUST, and HIPAA assurance activities pertaining to AI and data governance controls.
• Leverage AI to enhance program operations — automate governance workflows for intake, scoring, evidence collection, and reporting, and continually improve these processes.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 5-7 years of experience in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), with a minimum of 2 years of direct involvement in AI/ML governance or AI risk management.
• Proven experience in AI and data governance, including oversight of data flows and third-party risks.
• Familiarity with workflow automation, specifically hands-on experience with agentic tools such as Claude Code.
• Knowledge of AI governance frameworks like the NIST AI RMF, and understanding of the U.S. AI regulatory environment, including recent federal executive orders and emerging state laws.
• Experience in developing or managing an AI use-case intake, risk-scoring, and review process — including registers, review boards, or AI governance councils.
• Understanding of a data governance operating model — classification, ownership and stewardship, lineage, and quality — ideally in alignment with CDMC or DAMA-DMBOK.
• Demonstrated success in establishing and managing a data governance program.
• Capability to create governance standards and risk taxonomies, along with assessing adherence.
• Experience with healthcare data, HIPAA compliance, and handling of PHI.
• Strong analytical and writing skills — able to create a rubric, evaluate a use case, and deliver executive-ready reports.
• Proven ability to work autonomously as a team player in a lean, fast-paced environment.
• Health insurance
• 401(k) matching
• Flexible work arrangements
• Professional development opportunities
